ISO Rating
New Rating July 2017:
I would like to thank all of you for your cooperation during our recent ISO Public Community Classification (PCC) Survey. ISO has completed its analysis of our structural fire suppression delivery system. ISO’s survey plays an important role in the underwriting process at insurance companies. Our ISO rating is a large determinant in the amount of property insurance premiums our residents have to pay. Through an arduous audit process it was determined that the ISO rating for the Avra Valley Fire District is 3. This is an outstanding accomplishment, especially for a rural fire district.
This upgrade will impact every resident that lives within five miles of a fire station whether or not a hydrant is nearby. ISO looks at every aspect of a District’s operation. Most importantly, we were able to prove to ISO that we can maintain required fire flows for two hours anywhere within our District boundaries utilizing water shuttle operations and static water sources.
July 2013:
Effective July 1, 2013, Avra Valley Fire District received an ISO (Insurance Services Office) rating of 3/8b. This rating is used by insurance companies to set insurance rates for residents and businesses within the District. Residents are encouraged to contact their insurance companies to ensure they receive credit for this new lower rating. For property owners in the Red Rock area, Station 194 officially opened on January 2, 2015. Therefore, Red Rock residents can contact their insurance companies to claim the lower rating.
