Red Rock GATE Project: Corsi-Resenthal Air Purifier Boxes
Avra Valley Fire District has recently hosted the GATE students from Red Rock Elementary School to build and install Corsi-Rosenthal air purifiers at our Station 194 in Red Rock. These boxes are both cost-effective and easy to build. The boxes are gaining nationwide attention as a way to identify unwanted airborne particles in order to improve air quality. The GATE students have partnered with Arizona State University to turn this project into a learning environment which will help determine the effectiveness of Corsi-Rosenthal Boxes nationwide. The GATE students assisted our firefighters with building and installing several of these units at Station 194. Then, they captured 102 pages of data remotely over a three-week period. The students then consulted with their team at ASU to summarize the data and presented a very professional synopsis of the data, along with their final recommendations. Our Fire Board is very grateful to these exceptional students for their strong desire to better the community with their outstanding research.
